Job Description

BURN is seeking a Country Manager – Biomass Zambia who will be responsible for running a profitable, effective business unit across the country. This includes localising and implementing organisation strategies to meet commercial goals. The role is the key link between HQ and in-country teams, owning the management of country operations, sales targets and P&L, as well as government relations and stakeholder engagement.

Requirements

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in operations or commercial management roles.
  • 5+ years of people management experience, preferably leading cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of achieving volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
  • Experience managing and optimising last-mile distribution networks.
  • Experience managing sales-support functions such as logistics, supply chain, and customer experience (added advantage).
  • Highly skilled in strategic planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Above-average communication skills.
  • Strong reporting skills both quantitative (performance metrics) and qualitative (market insights).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all local initiatives, tasks, and people activity ensuring alignment with HQ guidance.
  • Coordinate any legal, audit, and compliance issues requiring local management.
  • Facilitate cross-functional in-country team meetings.
  • Engage local stakeholders including regulators as guided by HQ.
  • Ensure country teams work in appropriate, safe, and conducive office and field environments.
  • Develop clear messages aligned with the organisation's goals for government stakeholders.
  • Identify and engage key government officials, agencies, and influencers to foster beneficial relationships.
  • Assist in developing advocacy strategies and materials including press releases.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and provide insights to leadership.
  • Coordinate on-time, high-quality reporting on key metrics including risk, financial, and qualitative insights.
  • Own and drive commercial performance of the country, being directly responsible for meeting sales volumes, quality of distribution and profitability targets.
  • Manage communication channels to share information about BURN's initiatives, policies, and impacts with government entities.
