Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering or related technology field
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Engineer role managing financial services data
- Advanced SQL knowledge; experience with relational and NoSQL databases (Postgres, Cassandra)
- Experience with big data tools: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka; data pipeline tools: Azkaban, Luigi, Airflow
- Experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, EMR, RDS, Redshift) and Abinitio ETL
- Proficiency in Python, Java, Scala or other object-oriented languages; strong Excel skills
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain optimal data pipeline architecture; assemble large, complex data sets meeting functional and non-functional business requirements
- Identify, design and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
- Build ETL infrastructure for extraction, transformation and loading of data from varied sources using SQL and big data technologies (Abinitio, Hadoop)
- Implement analytics tools that utilise the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and business performance
- Oversee large-scale Hadoop platforms and support fast-growing data needs; enable and run data migrations across different databases and servers
- Perform thorough testing and validation to support accuracy of data transformations used in machine learning models
- Proactively analyse and evaluate databases to identify improvements; troubleshoot data issues and present solutions
