Requirements

  • Must have Master's degree in Library and Information Science, Information Science, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Information Technology, Digital Learning, Innovation or a related discipline,
  • Must have Bachelor's degree in Library and Information Science or related field.
  • Must have at least five (5) years' relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory or coordinating role within an academic library setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in an academic library, learning commons, digital learning, innovation, makerspace or comparable learning environment.
  • Demonstrable competence in AI literacy, digital technologies and emerging learning technologies.
  • Working knowledge of productivity software, library systems, research and reference-management tools, data-analysis applications, open-source technologies and relevant digital media tools.
  • Experience in designing and delivering training, workshops and learner-support programmes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across professional and disciplinary boundaries.
  • Knowledge of emerging trends in academic libraries, AI, digital scholarship, innovation and technology-enabled learning.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development and delivery of learner-centred services that support collaborative, independent and experiential learning.
  • Coordinate the AI Literacy Studio; develop and deliver programmes that build AI literacy, prompt literacy, critical evaluation of AI outputs and responsible use of generative AI.
  • Facilitate ideation, design thinking, prototyping, experimentation and interdisciplinary innovation projects.
  • Manage and develop services supporting podcasting, video/audio production, photography, graphic design, digital storytelling and other creative technologies.
  • Collaborate with academic schools to develop library services and learning programmes that strengthen students' competencies, problem-solving and practical skills.
  • Design and facilitate training in information discovery, evaluation, digital citizenship, research technologies and emerging digital tools.
  • Support students and researchers in the effective use of digital research tools, AI-enabled research, reference-management software and other scholarly technologies.
  • Develop learning programmes and events; plan and deliver workshops, bootcamps, clinics, innovation challenges and other programmes that enhance learning, creativity and engagement.
  • Establish effective collaborations with academic schools, ICT, Teaching and Learning, Research, Innovation, Student Services and external partners.
  • Coordinate student and peer support; Recruit, train and supervise student assistants, peer mentors, technology assistants and other personnel supporting the Library's learning ecosystem.
  • Identify, evaluate and facilitate the adoption of appropriate emerging technologies, software and digital tools across the Library's learning and innovation services.
  • Ensure effective utilisation, scheduling, accessibility, safety, security and maintenance of the Learning Commons, AI, Maker and Media spaces and their equipment.
  • Promote ethical and responsible technology use; embed academic integrity, ethical AI, intellectual property, privacy, digital citizenship and responsible technology practices across programmes and services.
  • Monitor impact and user experience; collect and analyse usage data, participation, feedback and learning outcomes to evaluate services and inform continuous improvement.
  • Lead innovation and ccontinuous improvement; identify emerging trends and opportunities and continually redesign services, programmes and technologies to position the UCU Library as a dynamic learning, innovation and digital creativity ecosystem.
