Job Description
Wave is hiring an ML Risk & Compliance Lead in Bamako to play a key role in maintaining operational integrity in a growing and dynamic environment. You will lead field audit efforts in Mali while supporting internal control, compliance, and fraud operations. You will be the go-to person on the ground to coordinate local execution of Wave's global risk and compliance standards.
Support AML and CFT investigations in Mali including submission of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) to the Financial Intelligence Authority.

Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, or audit.
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, Business and Economics, or a related field.
- Fluency in French and working knowledge of English are strong pluses.
- Experience in mobile money operations or financial services is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in team management.
- Work authorization in Mali required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate field audit activities including agent audits, spot checks, and reconciliations.
- Work with the field audit and agent ops teams to escalate and address deficiencies.
- Monitor implementation of control measures and escalate any breaches or gaps.
- Support the rollout of internal control frameworks across business functions.
- Assist with identifying and evaluating operational risks.
- Monitor implementation of compliance requirements including KYC and agent onboarding controls.
- Participate in incident reviews and follow up on remediation actions.
- Contribute to the implementation of the compliance program.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc compliance reports.
- Help coordinate fraud investigations or awareness efforts.
