Yellow Card is Africa's largest and first licensed stablecoin on/off-ramp platform, operating in 20 African countries. As Technical Team Lead for Payments, you will lead the engineering team responsible for Yellow Card's core payment infrastructure, driving technical excellence across the payments stack serving 20 African countries.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience as a Full-Stack Engineer/Developer, with 3+ years at Senior Engineer level
  • Strong experience working in AWS cloud architecture
  • Strong hands-on experience with Domain Driven Development, Node.js, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Proven experience building serverless & Kubernetes architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS, DynamoDB)
  • Experience designing and operating event-driven microservices
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, async workflows, and distributed systems
  • Experience with testing strategies (unit, integration, contract tests)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the payments engineering team, driving technical roadmap execution
  • Architect and implement scalable payment processing systems on AWS
  • Design event-driven microservices for real-time payment flows
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, and security across the payments stack
  • Conduct code reviews and establish engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to deliver payment product features
  • Mentor engineers and support technical growth within the team
