Reporting to the Team Manager – CNS Transmission Support, the Engineer – Transport Support will carry out fault resolution, configuration changes, quality assurance, system improvement, optimization and upgrades to deliver reliable and resilient transport network and synchronization.

Requirements
- BSc degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications or IT.
- At least 2 years technical experience supporting transmission networks in a service provider environment.
- Experience with transport technologies such as OTN-ASON, WDM-ASON, SDH, IPRAN, and Microwaves.
- Good working knowledge of IP networking.
- Certification in CCNA, CCNP, HCNA or HCNP preferred.
- Strong technical analysis, troubleshooting and problem resolution skills.
- Experience in outside plant fiber issue identification and maintenance.
- Knowledge of IP network performance monitoring and optimization tools.
- Network design, implementation and support experience including IPv6 and segment routing.
Responsibilities
- Uphold the company code of conduct, policies and procedures, ensuring integrity and accountability.
- Adhere to safety, health, and wellbeing policies.
- Complex fault management on Optical, ipRAN and Synchronization networks within SLA and support in complex cross-domain faults.
- Resolve all incidents to closure and escalate unresolved incidents to vendors managing escalation till RCA is provided.
- Run transmission network and transport trials, equipment/system parameter checks, evaluation and recommendations for new equipment adoption.
- Participate in formulation of high- and low-level designs of new transport systems in Optical, IPRAN and IP core domains.
- Work with internal teams in resolution of faults impacting Business IT systems such as M-PESA, Billing, and Payment aggregator.
- Ensure proper synchronization of all network elements and maintain network clocks.
- Drive operational excellence projects to improve transmission network quality and reliability.
- Effective implementation and planning of change requests in Optical, ipRAN and Synchronization networks.
