ABOUT THE ROLE
The Mission Curator plays a unique role in the faculty–one that is highly focused on supporting student learning, experiences, and development in relation to their missions. Mission Curators are both specialists and interdisciplinary advocates, as the most pressing challenges and exciting opportunities require an interdisciplinary approach. Mission Curators are academics with master’s or higher-level qualifications AND deep experience in the world associated with their domain area, with a substantial professional network that spans the Continent and beyond. Mission Curators are educators, coaches, network builders, and door-openers for our students and for ALU’s mission. This Mission Curator will have a focus on healthcare education and systems and will sit within the Centre for Healthcare Innovation and Impact.

Requirements
- Essential Requirements:
- Master’s degree in public health, global health, or related areas of specialisation with a focus on healthcare systems, with at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the field.
- At least 2 years of experience in education at the tertiary and post-tertiary levels, with preference for those with experience in innovative, non-traditional higher educational organizations.
- Proficiency in educational technologies and virtual learning platforms to support diverse instructional modalities.
- Excellent English communication skills
- Superior problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritise own work.
- Excellent coaching and project management skills.
- African-centred knowledge and experience.
- Strong regional and international network with NGOs, Startup Incubators, and accelerators etc.
- Based in East Africa or willingness to relocate.
- Desired:
- Additional educational qualifications beyond the master’s degree, including a doctoral degree.
- Based in Rwanda or willingness to relocate
Responsibilities
- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide regular and on-demand mission support and mentorship to students throughout their learning journey through synchronous and asynchronous channels that enable them to contextualise their learning with respect to the grand challenges and great opportunities listed above.
- Provide subject matter expertise on the design and development of learning modules associated with the 14 Grand Challenges and Opportunities (GCGOs).
- Provide subject matter expertise on the design and delivery of immersive and experiential learning programs associated with the 14 Grand Challenges and Opportunities (GCGOs)
- Curate indicative content, learning activities, and professional experiences drawing upon their specialised knowledge in Healthcare.
- Connect students with real-world learning opportunities and world-leading experts to support them with the realisation of their mission.
- Lead the initial facilitation of modules associated with the areas of specialisation, as well as some core elements of the curriculum (such as complex problem solving).
- Contribute to the creation and development of research initiatives in line with the area of expertise, and in partnership with appropriate others, particularly within ALU’s Centers of Excellence.
- Contribute to the annual programme review to ensure content is up-to-date, valid, relevant, and reflects current and future trends.
- Identify and implement modifications to learning materials, assessments, and other relevant components that meet internal and external quality assurance requirements.
- Other relevant activities to ensure the successful delivery of the programme
- Engage in institutional service through active participation in the academic committees, such as the curriculum committee, where curators can provide input into the development of the programme.
- Any other reasonable duties that may be allocated from time to time by one’s manager.
