aBi Finance Ltd is an impact investor providing sustainable financing solutions in Uganda's financial services sector, jointly founded by the Governments of Denmark and Uganda in 2010. The organization channels development cooperation funding to agribusinesses and agricultural service providers, enabling access to agribusiness and green finance through lines of credit, agribusiness guarantees, and financial services development. aBi Finance is supported by development partners including the Royal Danish Embassy, the International Fund for Developing Countries (IFU), and the European Union. aBi Finance Ltd is seeking an experienced and strategic IT Manager to ensure the organization operates with secure, reliable, and scalable ICT systems that support business operations, regulatory compliance, and digital transformation. The IT Manager will provide leadership in ICT governance, infrastructure management, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365 and business systems administration, and service delivery. The role supports enterprise systems initiatives to ensure effective implementation, integration, and user adoption that delivers measurable business value. The IT Manager reports to the Technical Manager and directly supervises the IT Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field. Certification as a Microsoft Systems Administrator is essential. A professional certification in IT governance or security such as CISM or ITIL is also required. Postgraduate qualifications or additional certifications in IT packages are an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT management, including at least 3 years in a senior leadership role. At least 3 years of hands-on experience in Microsoft Systems Administration. Demonstrated experience in strategic IT planning, budgeting, and resource allocation within complex organizational environments. Experience in disaster recovery planning and implementation, and a strong understanding of IT architecture and emerging technologies.
  • Practical experience using Microsoft 365 applications for business analysis and reporting, including Power BI, Excel, and Power Automate. Experience with business management, financial management, and compliance systems. In-depth understanding of network infrastructure, security best practices, and IT vendor management and contract negotiation. Knowledge of cybersecurity policy development, IT risk assessment, mitigation frameworks, and relevant regulatory requirements such as GDPR. Familiarity with data intelligence platforms and Microsoft 365-based analytics tools is required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement IT strategies aligned with organizational objectives, and establish and maintain IT governance frameworks covering policies, standards, and procedures. Define and enforce IT roles, responsibilities, and accountability structures, and support institutional decision-making through IT performance and risk reporting. Continuously review and improve IT policies, systems, and processes to ensure alignment between IT and business objectives.
  • Oversee IT infrastructure, networks, and end-user services to ensure high system availability and performance. Manage infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and monitoring, ensure SLA adherence, and conduct capacity planning. Protect aBi Finance IT systems through robust cybersecurity policies, procedures, and incident management protocols, including disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft 365 applications and the digital workplace environment, including system assessments, performance monitoring, and migration of digital tools. Conduct evaluations of new platforms and support effective adoption across the organization. Oversee data governance practices to ensure data quality, availability, and compliance with relevant regulatory frameworks.
  • Lead the IT support and service delivery function, ensuring timely and effective technical support to all staff and stakeholders. Manage IT vendor relationships, contracts, and procurement processes. Lead, coach, and develop the IT team to build capability, drive performance, and maintain high service standards. Contribute to budget development and monitoring for the ICT function, and report regularly to senior management on IT performance, risks, and strategic priorities.
