Job Description

BURN is looking for an IT Officer responsible for managing and supporting the information technology infrastructure at our DRC operations. This is a 6-month contract role based in Lubumbashi. The IT Officer will maintain hardware and software systems, ensure network security, provide technical support to staff, and implement IT policies and procedures. The role also involves troubleshooting technical issues, managing data backups, and staying current with technological advancements to ensure systems are efficient and secure. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Minimum 1 year of proven experience as an IT Officer or similar role
  • Proficiency in IT support and troubleshooting with ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively
  • Strong prioritisation and organisational skills to ensure timely completion of tasks
  • Solid understanding of IT security principles with ability to propose innovative solutions
  • Certifications such as ITIL are highly desirable
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and work under pressure
  • Bilingual – fluent in English and French (CV must be submitted in English)

Responsibilities

  • Administer the Office 365 platform including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, and PowerApps
  • Support and report to the IT supervisor
  • Monitor network, firewall, and computer systems to ensure 99.9% uptime, security, and improved performance
  • Provide user support and conduct end-user training for all relevant IT platforms
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Administer the Active Directory – creating and modifying user accounts, groups, computer accounts, organisational units, and other objects in the directory service database
  • Configure hardware and software, set up peripherals such as printers and routers, repair equipment, and provide daily support for computer network users
