Job Description

To supervise and coordinate passenger train operations to ensure safe, punctual, efficient and customer-focused train services in accordance with Uganda Railways Corporation operating procedures, safety standards, railway regulations and service delivery requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in railway operations, passenger transport, station operations,
  • customer service or a related operational environment.
  • Experience supervising passenger train services.
  • Experience working with railway operating rules and procedures.
  • Experience handling passengers during service disruptions or emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure trains depart and arrive according to approved schedules; monitor smooth running of passenger
  • services.
  • Conduct safety briefings, enforce railway safety procedures, manage emergencies and report incidents
  • promptly.
  • Confirm train readiness, cleanliness, availability of required equipment, passenger facilities and operational documentation.
  • Ensure passengers receive quality service, proper information, assistance and timely communication on delays or changes.
  • Liaise with Train Controllers, Station Masters, Drivers, Mechanical, Security and Customer Service teams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Receive, resolve and document passenger concerns and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare train reports, passenger statistics, delay reports, incident reports and other operational records.
  • Work with ticketing and commercial teams to reduce fare evasion and ensure proper passenger documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with URC Safety, Health and Environment policies during train operations.
  • Coordinate evacuation, first aid response and communication during accidents, breakdowns or service
  • disruptions.
