Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Program Management, the position holder will work with the Digital IT lead in the assigned unit to provide program leadership in the Pursuit and Delivery of Complex Information, Communications and Technology solutions for Safaricom programs and projects. This role will be responsible for partnership with assigned delivery unit to ensure realization of business outcomes through kick off, execution, control and closure of programs and projects.

Requirements

  • Degree in ICT or Business-related field
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification plus Agile certification required
  • At least 4 years' experience in managing IT projects
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of Waterfall and Agile concepts in project delivery
  • Ability to motivate teams to achieve business outcomes

Responsibilities

  • Program Planning & Delivery
  • Develop a formal and comprehensive program delivery plan integrating deliverables, acceptance criteria, risks, and tasks
  • Ensure tool and metrics utilization to track and improve project performance using EPM, MS Project, SharePoint, and Project Initiation Documents
  • Manage program progress by ensuring activities are executed as planned to achieve project objectives
  • Enforce quality gates during implementation through stakeholder engagement and communication management
  • Risk & Reporting
  • Manage and escalate risks and issues appropriately through the project life cycle
  • Ensure timely CAPEX utilization and receipting for all projects
  • Ensure timely preparation and dissemination of project reports, updates, and governance meeting presentations
  • Team & Knowledge Management
  • Contribute to the project management knowledge base by sharing lessons learned and best practices
  • Facilitate cooperation within teams and with stakeholders to realize shared goals
  • Provide leadership support for direct reports at senior levels
  • Conduct performance appraisal, motivation, and training of staff
