The Reconciliation & Automations Specialist ensures the accuracy and consistency of financial data by comparing and matching different sets of records, including internal accounting records and external statements. You will also drive automation projects benefiting the reconciliations and finance teams. Remote role based in South Africa.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Professional certifications (CPA, CMA, ACCA, or equivalent) preferred
  • Experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a reconciliation or accounting role
  • Proficiency in Excel, SAP, Oracle, and financial systems
  • Prior experience in fintech, banking, payments, or financial services
  • Advanced technical skills including SQL, data analytics, and automation tools are a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Drive all existing automation projects that affect the reconciliations team as well as initiating new automation projects
  • Work closely with the finance team on automation projects with benefits across both teams
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts (cash, accounts payable/receivable, balance sheet accounts) to ensure accuracy
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies between internal records and external statements
  • Analyze and verify transactions to ensure they are properly recorded in financial statements
  • Prepare reconciliation reports and other financial reports as required by management
  • Identify opportunities to improve the reconciliation process and implement changes to increase efficiency
  • Collaborate with Accounting, Finance, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies
