Requirements

  • Must have a PhD Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Must have a Masters in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Laboratory Technology from a recognized institution of higher learning. A Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery will be an added advantage.
  • Must have completed a Specialist Training in the area of Molecular Biology or Biotechnology and willing to grow over the next five years.
  • Must have taught at university level for at least three (3) years at the rank of Lecturer.
  • Must have published at least two (2) new scholarly articles in internationally recognized journals in their area of academic expertise.
  • Must be registered or eligible for full registration with Allied Health Professionals Council.
  • Should demonstrate commitment to Medical research.
  • Must be a person of high integrity.
  • Must be a committed and practicing Christian.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in course administration and instruction for the Medical school curriculum.
  • Develop and delivers an integrated curriculum, which blends basic science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines.
  • Employ multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large and small group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, team-based learning and distance education.
  • Provide formative and summative assessment of undergraduate and post-graduate Medical student performance.
  • Provide individual support, feedback, and advice to Medical students.
  • Work closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the Medical school’s curriculum.
  • Engage in scholarship and academically-related public service.
  • Supervising student Molecular Biology sessions, treatment plans, and competences; acting as a clinical academic advisor and/or undergraduate restorative portfolio supervisor, as requested by the Head of Department.
  • Actively engage in research in Molecular Biology, or a related field, within developing UCUSoM research themes.
  • Provide support to research internally and externally by attending and presenting at relevant meetings.
  • Engage in publication of original material (reviews, case studies, research results).
