Job Description

Absa Securities Limited is looking for a Specialist Trader based in Nairobi to execute client and agency trades efficiently through the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) Automated Trading System (ATS). The role supports revenue growth, market share gains, product diversification, and market development by leveraging the broader Absa CIB franchise across equities, fixed income, ETFs, REITs, and related instruments.

Requirements
- University degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of experience in securities trading, brokerage operations, sales trading, or capital markets.
- Strong knowledge of the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) trading systems, order management, and market structure.
- Familiarity with NSE and Capital Markets Authority (CMA) regulatory frameworks.
- NSE Automated Trading System (ATS) Certification is mandatory.
- Demonstrated sales trading capability with experience across multiple asset classes.
Responsibilities
- Contribute directly to revenue growth by achieving competitive execution outcomes, increasing trading volumes, and improving liquidity across equity and multi-asset products.
- Support the build-out of sales trading capabilities and diversified product execution by leveraging the Absa CIB franchise.
- Collaborate with Investment Banking Division (IBD) teams to solution clients across multiple asset classes and provide execution support for primary to secondary market transitions.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of NSE market structure and ensure full compliance with NSE Equity Trading Rules and Capital Markets Authority (CMA) requirements.
- Operate within approved trading mandates, limits, and operational controls to manage risk effectively.
- Work collaboratively with settlement, custody, sales, risk, compliance, and operations teams to ensure seamless trade execution and reporting.
