Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (4 years, 480 credits) in Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Informatics, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or Transport Economics at NQF Level 8 is essential.
- 6 to 8 years of Aviation Sector (Airline/Airport Industry) management experience is essential.
- Route Development Forecasting Tools such as APG.
- Net, Profit Manager, and Beontra B Route Development recommended.
- Airport IS, MIDT, and Industry Related tools recommended.
- MS Office at intermediate level.
- Competencies required: Analytical Thinking, Attention to Detail, Problem Solving, Excellent Communication skills, Negotiation skills, Influencing, Relationship Building, Organisational skills, Creative Thinking, and Risk Management.
Responsibilities
- Support evaluation of market opportunity for new routes taking into account pre-identified target markets, network strategy and competitive environment analysis.
- Review and analyse research to identify new route development opportunities.
- Develop business cases for proposed new routes and provide guidance on regulatory, political and Air Service Agreement limitations.
- Work with internal divisions to finalise route characterization sheets for preliminary contact with candidate airlines.
- Work with marketing to promote route development at global and regional route events and conferences.
- Support Traffic Development Lead in strategic identification of opportunities in partnership with Business Development and Corporate Strategy.
- Engage with state administration and airlines to address regulatory impediments and identify solutions.
- Assess validity of existing Air Service Agreements and propose changes where necessary.
- Support Air Service Agreement negotiation and documentation processes.
- Support final viability assessment of new route implementation at specific airports.
- Engage with route stakeholders for demand creation in target and local markets.
- Provide support to Airport General Managers in relationships with local bodies.
- Engage with Tourism Authorities, Department of Tourism, Chamber of Commerce and State entities for route development demand creation.
