Job Description

BURN is looking for a Carbon Technical Officer who will support the development, review, and delivery of high-quality carbon documentation, ensuring compliance with global standards and timely project certification and credit issuance. This role plays a key part in strengthening MRV processes, maintaining data quality, and driving continuous improvement across BURN's carbon operations through technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration. Carry out communications with Standards bodies (VERRA/GS) for technical changes, deviation requests, and clarification requests.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of carbon asset development experience.
  • Mastery of Gold Standard cookstove methodologies.
  • Mastery of Gold Standard metered methodologies.
  • Track record in end-to-end certification from design documentation through issuance.
  • Experience managing junior analysts or staff.
  • Excellent written documentation skills.
  • High data accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work within a team structure.
  • Motivation and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Keep up to date on all Standard updates (GS/VERRA/CDM) and ensure BURN stays ahead of required changes.
  • Carry out specific one-off special carbon assignments as needed.
  • Prepare final drafts and reviews of all carbon reports including VPA DDs, PoA DDs, Project Design Documents, Monitoring Reports, Stakeholder Consultation Reports, and Emissions Reductions Calculations Files.
  • Manage timelines against target issuance schedules ensuring sufficient time for VVB audits, carbon report preparation, and carbon registry reviews (Gold Standard and VERRA).
  • Review and prepare Standard Operating Procedures and QC/QA plans for all carbon reporting and technical aspects including sampling protocols, KPT protocols, and survey methods.
  • Conduct twice-monthly training and capacity building sessions within the Carbon Operations Department to ensure compliance with carbon standard requirements.
  • Provide first-level responses to all reviews from VVBs and carbon registries across each stage of the project certification cycle.
  • Maintain and review the register of feedback received from all previous and ongoing VVB audits and carbon registry reviews.
