Requirements

  • National Senior Certificate / N3 with Mathematics, English and Physical Science
  • Mechanical Occupational Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
  • 8+ years experience in petrochemical or refinery environment
  • Extensive experience in shutdowns/turnarounds; 3+ years supervisory or foreman experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Maintenance Systems (SAP PM or similar) and interpretation of P&IDs and engineering drawings

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line leadership and management to enable frontline team results in Safety, Production, Maintenance, Quality and Cost
  • Plan, control and manage operations/maintenance activities to ensure maximum task quality, efficiency and equipment effectiveness
  • During emergencies, evaluate abnormalities and take corrective action to avoid downtime, equipment damage and SHERQ incidents
  • Coach and technically train own staff; accountable for practical declaration of competence to operate the plant
  • Conduct PDA, RCA and risk assessments; manage work permit system and Task Risk Assessments
  • Ensure compliance to SHERQ legal standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and Process Safety Management
  • Manage team performance, motivation and wellness; participate in recruitment and succession planning
